Artist Tim Scott Bolton has illustrated and written his first book to celebrate the tercentenary year of the great 18th century landscape gardener Lancelot ‘Capability’ Brown’s birth.
Illustrated with 90 or so paintings, which include both oils and watercolours, range widely across the seasons, beautifully capturing the essential character of Brown’s legacy in the full glory of its late maturity.
Each section of the book deals with a particular Brown garden and gives a brief history of the estate. This book is enriched with Bolton’s thoughts and interpretations behind his paintings. An absolutely stunning book for anyone who appreciates fine art and landscape design history.
