This bee patterned sugar bowl is a cheerful addition to any tea set or kitchen.
In the 19th century, esteemed cultivator of British zoology and entomology John Curtis curated no less than 16 volumes of ‘Curtis’s British Entomology’. In total, these contained no less than 770 detailed plates of British insects.
In 1822 Curtis was elected as a Fellow of the Horticultural Society, having been introduced to it by his friend Dr Lindley who was at the time Secretary of the society.
To celebrate John Curtis’s involvement with the now RHS, and in honour of his detailed works specifically around bees, the RHS have decided to dedicate this 2019 exclusive range to his wonderful plates based on the Black Winged Humble Bee, the Heath Humble Bee and the Common Hive or Honey Bee.
